I had a lovely weekend. H was at his Dad’s and I was able to get on with lots of things and fit in some socialising too. One job that got done over the weekend was some new pictures going up in H’s room. Some are practical like this one and others are purely decorative. There isn’t that much free wall space now in H’s room, but I might be able to squeeze in one more.
It’s a been a week of things going wrong and a long hard slog to sort them out. This picture is of the manhole cover that kept making a noise every time someone drove over it. I did an online form to report it to the water company and then they sent me an email to say I should ring them. It annoyed me as basically they seemed to want me to do the job of reporting it twice and it was one of those annoying ‘do not reply’ email addresses. I got onto them on Twitter and it’s been sorted now.
But it seemed never-ending. We have had broadband problems ever since we switched provider a couple of years ago. They made a mess of the switch initially and caused me a lot of stress. Since then we have been paying for Superduper Fibre and not getting it. This week was the last straw and I’ve started the process of moving provider for less outgoings and more included, even if the broadband doesn’t improve as promised.
Then the email for the blog went wrong. An afternoon spent sorting it out didn’t seem to really make much progress, but I seem to have got it working again this morning. My iPhone has no signal again! This happened at Christmas and my phone company let me off paying for the month because of it – their issue apparently. Got to ring them up again to try to sort that out. Not looking forward to that.
I’m hoping next week will be less hassle and I can actually move forward with things rather than sort out things that have gone wrong.
Amber, our remaining cat, has been struggling since his bosom buddy Bracken died. He walks around the house wailing – it’s something he’s always done a bit, but it is really bad now. I can’t now have him in the room where I am sleeping because he wails and wails until he is under the covers and in his favoured position, by which point I am well and truly awake. We seem to have reached a situation which mostly works for us now. He is wailing a bit less which helps and has seemed to have got more comfortable about sleeping either in the spare bedroom or in the living room. I’ve got better at blocking out the noise he makes and I’m sleeping better, even on the nights I don’t bother with ear plugs. Hopefully this will work well for us from now on.
