Two weeks in one for me as I was away last weekend. After a couple of years of drought on the holiday wins front, I ended my dry spell last year with a trip I won to the Edinburgh book festival. Recently I won an overnight stay at a very smart hotel in Sherborne, a pretty town in North Dorset. This was the room which was lovely. It was a great experience because included in the prize was a massage, use of the spa, a 7 course tasting menu dinner and matching wines.
As well as the delights at the hotel I found time to explore the town a little. This picture is from Sherborne Abbey which is a stunning church. Other highlights for me included a pub serving my favourite beer: Wadsworth 6X. It’s been a few years since I’ve had a pint as it’s in short supply very far north and the nearest pub to me (that I’ve been able to find) that stocks it is near Droitwich (not that far a drive, but not well placed for public transport).
On the way back I stopped in Portishead near Bristol to break the journey and enjoy a bit of rough, windy stormy weather, although the worst had passed by the time I got there.
Afternoon tea on day this week with fellow blogger Buckets of Tea. She specialises in afternoon tea reviews, so I was dining with an expert. We had a good catch up and the tea was very nice too.
One day this week I went to a store event at Holland and Barrett in the Bullring, Birmingham. The store is focused on beauty and whilst it does stock some of the health food ranges, it’s the beauty ones that get star billing. I enjoyed the Evolve Beauty stand where I got to make my own facial oil. There was a very generous goody bag to take away too.
It’s been nice to have a few more exciting things to do as January and early February had been a bit dull.
