H’s school was closed last Friday due to a rat infestation in the kitchens. He loved having a day at home to chill and I think it was what he needed as this is a long half term and an extra day’s break was very welcome. I think he was hoping that the rats would still be there on Monday morning, but it was back to school for him. This picture was taken of the sunrise as we walked down to the bus stop on the way to school one morning.
I had an invite this week to an event at a Toby Carvery. It was a lunchtime event and I took along a friend that I hadn’t taken to a blogging event before. She loved it and I must admit it did make me see what we do with new eyes. I was stuffed though as I ate my own dinner and then had to eat part of another during filming.
Back in January I think I agree to do a review of a private chef company on my other blog. For various reasons a date didn’t get set till now. When I agreed to it I loved the idea of a private chef (and I still do), but I hadn’t thought through all that was involved. It suddenly clicked that as a professional photographer was coming round, I’d need to clean and tidy up more than I would have done if I had been taking my own photos. And then there was the idea of a professional chef in my kitchen. So this week has been a cleaning, sorting and tidying mission. It’s been hard work, but some of it was well overdue. I even put a few items on eBay while I was at it and I’ve sold one already. Today I’ll be finishing off the cleaning ahead of party. I’m sure the food will be lovely, so it will all be worth it and I’ll have a clean and tidy house. It needed doing before I hosted this year’s big family Christmas anyway.
Oh yuck to the rats! Glad they managed to get that sorted. The sunrise is lovely.
Oh wow at having a private chef come round! But yes I would be having a crazy clear out too prior to one coming!
How exciting to have a private chef round! Although cleaning and tidying is never fun. I can just imagine how much H enjoyed his extra day off school. We got a message on Thursday evening to say the heating was broken at my daughter’s school and it might be closed on Friday. She was gutted when it wasn’t!
An exciting life, love the top picture of the sun rise its wonderful, what time was that? I do enjoy a Toby carvery we have one a couple of miles away and its alway packed especially on a Sunday
Hope the dining experience goes well. Mine got cancelled originally by them and now it doesn’t work for me. Can’t beat a Toby #365
What a treat for H to have a day off school and for you to visit Toby Carvery.
The private chef sounds fantastic but all the cleaning doesn’t sound so appealing. x
I’d never dare have a chef round. Our place could never be tidy enough! Plus the OH wouldn’t want to have someone come in, although I think it could be quiet interesting. Hope it went well
How exciting to have a private chef around. I would love that. Although cleaning and tidying not so much. Glad H enjoyed his day off, but not so much fun it not being planned. The dinner does look fun xx
Cool never knew that Toby Carvery had own Christmas crackers with meals.
I private chef, yup indeed thats something would definitely you should try, I experienced it and that was amazing…
Lovely picture of the sunrise. Nice to have a day off from school. A private chef? That’s a first I’ve heard of it. I wonder how that’s like
hope you enjoy your chef night, not sure it is my idea of a night with people all over my kitchen, and it would not stand professional photos.
I suppose with this cold weather rats would be tempted to move in somewhere warm.
A day off school, Brilliant. Cake Making and drawing
It sounds exciting to have a professional chef round to the house, but oh dear to all the cleaning and sorting first
Oh dear – not good about H school!
