Last Saturday was a bit of an odd one. I’d had a fairly normal Saturday: reasonably relaxed, a few jobs done, my 365 post written and fitted in a swim. Then latish afternoon I was off with some friends to Ikea on the way to a restaurant review in Walsall. Walsall is probably half an hour’s drive away on a reasonably good run and a friend offered to drive us all over, as long as we could stop off Ikea on the way as she needed to get something there. Ikea was still pretty busy and I was reminded why I always try to avoid it at the weekend and if I have to go, I tend to go first thing. It didn’t really matter this time as I wasn’t buying anything though. Unbelievably I managed to stick to that as I usually get tempted with something.
After Ikea we went to a launch of German Doner Kebab in Walsall. It was good to try the food and great to be able to bring a few friends along, rather than just the usual plus one guest arrangement. We were all pretty full after the meal, but fancied something a little sweet to finish things off. Back to Ikea for a sweet fix as it was on the way, but sadly the cinnamon buns were out of stock, so ice cream was the only option.
Life is feeling very busy at the moment. There seems to be a lot going on and we are getting very close to H’s half term. He has two weeks off school because his school usually go back earlier in the summer than the other local schools. It was only a day or two this time, but they still seem to have found the scope to allow for a two week half term which of course H loves. It’s a good opportunity to take a longer holiday when things are a bit cheaper and maybe we’ll get to do that next year, but this year wasn’t possible. Because I’ve been so busy, I haven’t been able to fit in all my usual activities the last week or two and I’ve had to miss my German class one week, a yoga class and I haven’t been swimming as much. I did find time to try out this ion water bottle which is so much nicer than my last one. It seems a bit counter intuitive taking water with me to the pool, but I do get thirsty. This one is supposed to be leak proof and so far so good. I think I’ll need a rest once half term is out of the way.
