Last Saturday we had to be up and out quite early as H had a driving lesson in Malvern for 9.30. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the Three Counties Showground so we set out at 8.30 to be in good time. It was a beautiful sunny day, but it was still quite chilly when we arrived. I’d brought a fleece jacket though and settled down to read my book in the sun whilst H did his lesson. He’s enjoyed learning to drive and attempted his first three point turn this time and he had a go at parallel parking. I sneaked in this shot of him on this phone whilst we waited for his lesson to begin.
I had to take some work pictures this week for various blog posts I was working on or am still working on. I was quite pleased with this one for my The Restored post. I quite enjoy picking out the right items, mostly from around the house to put into a picture. I have an area in my dining room that I use for this type of shot and I have invested in a bit of kit and props over the years. The room is north facing with a big window, which is ideal for anything requiring good light as there are no shadows, just even light.
I went on a relaunch for one of the better hotels in Birmingham this week. It’s the one that they refer to in the Peaky Blinders as the Midland Hotel, but it’s called the Burlington currently. There was a bit of a Peaky Blinders theme to the evening and I was the proud winner of a men’s flat cap in a round of pass the parcel. Sadly I didn’t win the spa break experience that some of the tables had in their parcels, but it’s quite a fun item and I think it might prove useful for dressing up. It was a great night out with gin cocktails, a three course banquet, games and entertainment including a former X Factor singer, acrobats, a brass ensemble and fire eaters.
Another work shot of some new shoes I’ve been sent to review. I’m liking them so far: they are comfortable and practical, plus they look quite smart for casual shoes.
