Well it’s been a really busy week. On the one hand it was H’s first full week at secondary and it was quite full on for him. I’ve been trying to support him too and it’s been quite stressful in the mornings and the evenings – I expect it will all sort itself out when we get used to it and I’m going to expect him to do more for himself as things settle.
Aside from that I’ve been working on H’s room. Most days I’ve been going over to fetch and take home my handyman, plus I’ve been trying to source materials and soft furnishings. I spent ages trying to find red stuff for his room as he wants that as his splash of colour. Sadly there are precious few duvet covers out there in red and the few that are seemed to be girly with hearts on or have a scandi vibe going on which isn’t what he wants. It doesn’t help that I wanted a specific shade of red to match a bean bag that we already have. In the end I gave up on getting red curtains and bed linen and settled for a red throw and some cushions instead. I was a bit worried about what H would think of the curtains, but when he saw them he said he really liked them (without any prompting too). The room still needs carpeting and I need to buy a few new items like a desk and chair, but hopefully it will be done next week.
Aside from that I’ve been restocking the cupboards after the school holidays – I tend to run everything down during the summer as I just do the minimal shopping, but we had started to run out of all our dried, tinned or bottled stuff. I’ve been upping my fitness game with two swims and a yoga class this week. One new thing I tried this week was waffle making and it was surprisingly easy. H seemed to like them too.
