Over the last week I’ve done quite a lot of work with the garden. I’ve tidied things up around the front, but most of my efforts have gone on the back garden. It’s a reasonably big garden and there’s quite a lot to do. This is from my flower border which runs alongside the side of the house. I’ve still got some work to do here, but work from this year and previous year’s is starting to pay off.
The fruit and vegetable garden is running a little behind, but I have potatoes, legumes, roots and brassicas in, so I am making progress. Need to give the hedges a little trim still to keep them in check till their main cut later in the year. I’m hoping we’ll have some produce soon – I think the potatoes aren’t far off being ready as they were earlies.
The cats are spending most of their days basking in the sun in the conservatory. It does get hot in there even with the windows open though. If it gets really hot they sleep apart, but often they mirror each other in their positions.
H and I went out to review a new pub that opened in the centre of Birmingham this week. H does like to see himself as a food critic and trying out somewhere new is always a popular experience, especially when pizza is available. My review for the Head of Steam in Birmingham is over on my foodie blog. It was a lovely relaxed evening. H and I had a lovely meal and H got to eat all his favourite things: pizza, fries, etc. I got to see some fellow bloggers who were also reviewing as it was a press night. So much nicer too when you can go out for dinner and then home in the light thanks to the long summer evenings.
