It’s been quite a fun week. I’ve been out quite a lot and been to all my usual things, but part of me wonders how long that will go on for in the current situation. We shall see.
I’ve been going swimming as usual: 50 lengths probably about 3 times a week, which in this pool is a little short of a mile each time I go. I do love our local pool and it’s a fine looking building. Sadly though the council have been a bit neglectful on the maintenance. I guess, as I can’t remember the last time I saw anyone spectating in this pool, that the seating area isn’t a high priority.
Yoga is my other main form of exercise. We went out after one of my yoga sessions to celebrate a classmate’s birthday. This is a cup of apple and cinnamon tea in a local cafe that serves middle eastern food and drink. Lots of talk about the news, but no one really knows how things will shape up. It looks like H’s school trip at Easter (to the first world war battlefields of France and Belgium) will be cancelled which is a shame, but it seems a bit counter intuitive that he can still go into school every day. Happy to cancel anything really if it keeps people safe.
I went on a ghost tour this week. It was in the underground tunnels of a local swimming baths which is well known amongst ghost hunters. It’s a building that was extensively used during world war two and it is built on top of a black death mass grave. Apparently they have a whole list of workmen and contractors who refuse to go down there to work, as there have been some very strange experiences. Apart from the ghost walks they regularly do longer ghost hunts where you can stay down there overnight. This was some wartime graffiti from a room that was used as an air raid shelter.

Hooray for a fun week. It looks like you’ve had a great time. It sounds like the swimming is going well.
That tea looks amazing and the ghost tour sounds interesting. x

The ghost tour sounds right up my street, let me know where it is, I’d love to visit there. The swimming pool spectator area reminds me of where I used to have swimming club, back in the day. my mum would complain it was too hot to sit there and watch me swim, but it was well used when we had galas. Shame about H’s school trip and I do agree it seems like the UK will lock the stable door after the horse has bolted

Shame about the school trip but sensible. Our school have cancelled swimming til the end of term (due to the cramped ‘open’ changing rooms), and all events that parents usually go to school for like assemblies, church service etc. Seems sensible.
You’re braver than me, I wouldn’t do a ghost walk down there!

A fascinating week, so many different activities. Like the look of that tea, it reminds me of my Mum’s hot drinks, she is always adding pieces of fruit, herbs and spices to her tea.
You’re brave to go on a ghost hunting. Did you encounter any paranormal activity?

The ghost tour sounds like it would be interesting.
I miss being able to swim, 50 lengths sounds a very good amount to be doing.

I used to enjoy swimming, but haven’t been in ages. I doubt that I could swim 50 lengths, you’re obviously a good swimmer.

Thats alot of swimming. Great job! The pool looks great. OOooo apple and cinnamon tea! It’s a shame the trip was cancelled; it sounds like an amazing place to visit. Interesting ghost tour although the mass grave sounds horrible!

Not sure I would be brave enough to go on a ghost tour! Wouldn’t be able to sleep afterwards.
Shame the council don’t keep up the maintenance at the pool..does look like a good pool.

The ghost tour sounds fun. When I worked at Harrods as a student, I had occasion to go down into their enormous basement to retrieve some things from storage. The person I went down with told me that when the basement was originally being dug out, it could only extend a limited amount in one direction because of a plague pit, so actually the basement is not directly under the Harrods building, but partly under the building and partly under a nearby road. The corner of the building that is closest to South Kensington is on top of a plague pit. I always love finding out these weird bits of history about places that look perfectly normal.
