H has a two week half term, so I am looking for plenty of things to do and he does enjoy Halloween themed activities. We popped along to our local Ascarium (The National Sea Life Centre, Birmingham). Sea Life have a spooky adventure for visitors this half term. As you walk through the Ascarium, you can help the sea witch unlock her treasure chest.. In amongst the fishes, the sea horses and jelly fish, there are a number of magic ingredients that you need to find to help the sea witch cast a magic spell to unlock the treasure chest.
As you can see there are lots of Ascariums around the country so there will probably be one near you that you can visit to join in the fun.
As well as looking out for the various ingredients that the witch needs to cook up a spell in her cauldron, we spent some time exploring the seas and learning about the various scary animals of the deep (as well as some of the less scary ones). We always enjoy watching the jellyfish as they are almost hypnotic. We spent a while octopus hunting – they seem to like to hide away in nooks and crannies. A visit to the 4D cinema is a must for us (the films change regularly) and we loved the bubbles coming our way during the film currently showing. The gift shop is somewhere where we like to browse and H is always interested to see what new toys are available with a marine theme.
There’s also an opportunity to have a meet and greet with the sea witch. As you can see she’s not at all scary and you can have your picture taken with her as a souvenir of your day at the Sea Life Centre.
