Over on Twitter recently, a terrible battle erupted over the Etna pizza from Pizza Express. Pizza Express had two specials: the Etna Pizza and the Rustichella Pizza. People were asked to vote on which one of these two to bring back to the menu, but the Rustichella pizza triumphed and it got to back on the menu. Fans of the Etna were upset and disappointed. Luckily for them Deliveroo and Pizza Express were listening.
The Etna Pizza is now exclusively available through Deliveroo. If you live in a Deliveroo area you probably are aware of their delivery service. You often see cyclists about wearing a large, insulated rucksack with Deliveroo’s Kangaroo logo on. Deliveroo aims to make restaurants available to consumers in the same way that takeaways are. You can order places that don’t usually deliver and the food will be brought to your door. There’s a small fee for the service and a minimum order charge of £15.00. To be honest it’s not that difficult to spend £15 on restaurant quality food.
I placed my order for the Etna using the Deliveroo app. Good design has made sure that it’s very easy to use. Once you’ve placed your order it will keep you informed about the delivery. I got told when our food was being cooked, when our delivery had left the restaurant and another message when our food was almost at the door. I love that : there’s no worrying about whether you have been forgotten and it’s easy to judge when you might receive your food, so you can have the table ready. I ordered in advance (about lunch time for a late afternoon delivery) as I wanted to be sure of our pizza arriving at a certain time to fit in with after school activities and the delivery was bang on time.
If you haven’t come across the Etna yet, the menu describes it as ‘pancetta, hot soft ‘nduja sausage, Roquito pepper, mozzarella, tomato and Gran Milano cheese’, so this is very much one for spice fans. My husband likes a bit of kick to his pizza and this didn’t disappoint.
This was my first time using Deliveroo and one of the things that struck me most, was that I could order a full child’s meal from Pizza Express. We ordered a child’s meal for H and he loved that he got his own portion of dough balls, although he still nicked some of ours too. He even got his very own dessert which was perfect. The children’s meals at Pizza Express are very good value, so we were glad to have this option available.
The Etna pizza is exclusively available for customers to order either by logging on to the Deliveroo mobile app (free to download), the main Deliveroo website or the Pizza Express website. Is the Etna pizza a favourite of yours? Are you glad to see it back?
Disclosure: I was given a credit to spend with Deliveroo and compensated for my time in completing this review however all opinions are my own.

Thissounds brilliant. I didn’t know you could order Pizza Express home delivery – will be checking if the Deliveroo service is available in our area! x
Looks delicious
Will be ordering at the weekend
Ohh the Etna sounds like one my hubby would enjoy too, I tend to go for the Padana at Pizza Express but the are all yummy. Mich x
We don’t have Deliveroo by us but I think my daughter would love the Etna. I’ve got my eye on H’s little pud, how sweet is that.
I have never heard of the Etna Pizza – need to try it now. Shame Deliveroo isn’t with us yet
No Deliveroo here and no Pizzaa Express within a 10 mile radius! Shame
The Etna does sound and look really tasty, I wish I could have a piece or two. We are out in a small town in North Wales though, way outside of any delivery area for Pizza Express. Will remember for any city trips though, thanks for testing it out for us all!
This makes me want pizza for lunch now!
Making me feel very hungry
While I’m not sure they’re still doing it, it does sound very tasty and worth looking out for in future. I’m enjoying browsing Pizza Express’ Christmas Specials right now, they look fab! Thanks for the review of Deliveroo, I’m yet to try it so that’s really helpful.
That pizza looks amazing
