Now that school has started back my thoughts are turning to getting ready for the winter to come. Key for that of course is a winter coat that can take whatever the weather throws at it. It’s nice to see though at Melijoe that it doesn’t have to be all about function, because style can play a leading role too.
Warmth is the number one criteria for me for a winter coat. A padded jacket is just the thing to provide some insulation on a cold winter’s day. I’m really liking this lemon yellow one from Scotch & Soda as it’s a bright and cheery lemon yellow, just the thing to keep your spirits up when the sun has gone into hiding. Some thought has gone into creating this coat with its removable lining, piped front pockets and drawstring hem. Keep the cold out with the lined hood and shrug off the rain with the waterproof outer.
This woollen cloth reefer jacket from Little Marc Jacobs is just the thing when your boy wants to keep warm, but look very smart too. It has a definite retro feel to the styling. The detailing is wonderful too with its piped, contrasting, front pockets; leather patches; logo buttons; and removable false fur. The outer is warm wool and inside there’s a cosy padded layer to beef up the insulation.
Parkas are such practical coats and they look good too. I’m loving this one from Pepe Jeans in khaki. This coat does everything you want a winter coat to do in terms of protection against the cold and the wet, with its waterproof outer and quilted padding inside. The hood is detachable, which can be useful sometimes. Little touches of detailing really make this coat, like the ribbed knit trims and the snap strap over the zipper. Synthetic fur around the hood completes the look and makes it feel ultra cosy. If I was just picking out one, I’d go for this.

Ohh these look so cosy and warm. I like the yellow one because it will show up well in the dark – the evenings will soon be getting darker.
These coats look fab – so snuggly and warm, perfect for the winter.
I adore that smart black coat but I’d be worried about letting Cheeky Chap wear it as he is so messy!
I have just been outside and was so cold. These look just the job for my grandchildren as they will need new coats now Autumn is here.
The woolen reefer jacket is just so smart for a little kid!! Trendy dude alert!!

I am partial to a parka myself but I do like that reefer jacket, how cute, I could see my little man in that.
Now those are some fantastic looking coats. x
Isaac would adore the yellow one – it is his favourite colour. I did pick up his and Sebby’s in the sales last year though – just need to get Eliza’s now

I adore the yellow coat. It is the sort of thing I would buy!
Love that last option, so practical for our winters, reminds me of the ones my brother used to wear too.

Parkas were a favourite of mine when I was younger. They were so warm and cosy 🙂
I LOVE the parker. Totally something I would wear as well as my girls. I’m so looking forward to sharing their clothes
I think I like the top one best. When the cold weather comes, I am a great fan of wearing a duvet!
