After a summer outdoors it’s been a bit of a shock to the system to get used to the colder weather and part of that has been getting kitted out in the right gear. Blacks sent me two of their Berghaus jackets to try out to make sure I was ready for the autumn and the winter ahead. As the temperature got colder and the weather harsher I’ve certainly been appreciating the warmth and the waterproofness (is that a word?) of my jackets as they have been able to take everything that the end of the year has thrown at them.
Through autumn, winter and spring, I am often to be seen out in a fleece jacket. They are so comfortable and easy to wear providing warmth without a lot of bulk. I love the simple lines of the Berghaus Women’s Fleece. It’s a very classic styled micro fleece which is very soft and cosy to wear, this and the warmth it provides make it a great lightweight mid-layer option. The AT™ Micro fleece fabric ensures comfortable insulation with extra versatility thanks to the InterActive zip construction. I love the two zipped handwarmer pockets which provide somewhere safe to store my keys and my phone. I can see me getting many years of use from this fleece as from what I have been able to see so far, it will wear well.
I like to pair a fleece with a waterproof of the same colour if I can as I find this means that it is easy to make sure you have the right clothes for the weather and that they work well too. I’ve teamed the fleece with the Berghaus Women’s Calisto Alpha AQ™2 Waterproof Jacket which is one of a selection of Women’s winter jackets and it’s in the same classic black colour. Again it’s a timeless design with an everyday outdoor waterproof shell which features Berghaus’ impressive AQ technology. It’s practical when you are out and about (and always in a hurry like me) because it’s a highly breathable, weatherproof jacket that comes with a roll away, adjustable hood, multiple pockets and an air-permeable dry mesh lining. I liked the snugness of the fit which means I don’t feel like I am wearing lots of bulk, even with the fleece on underneath.
