Last weekend was a quiet one after all the hurley-burley of half term. H needed a little downtime before going back to school. We did go out on Saturday though to stock up on library books and pizza. The pizza was for a post I needed to write, but H never needs much persuading to eat pizza.
I’ve spent a lot of the week working on photos and posts for this year’s Christmas gift guides. It still seems a bit early, but I said I’d do them in early November so I had to make a start.
I have been trying to link the posts by using a style of picture. It hasn’t always proved easy though. I intended to use the same backdrop and table top throughout, but some items were better shown in a flat lay. That was fine in a way though because I was using the same table top. Then I came across something that clashed with the table top and had to use another one, so I’m not sure the theme has really worked.
I’ve quite enjoyed myself though. I don’t think I’ve ever done so many styled photographs in such a short space of time before and I’ve relished the challenge.
Thursday was a big night out for me as I went to see Altered Images, The Christians and Midge Ure at Birmingham Town Hall. I’d won the tickets in a competition, so it was an unexpected treat. I decided to write about the gig anyway, ever the blogger. I had a really good time.
Last night was H’s school fireworks. It’s always a good show and this picture doesn’t do it justice at all. I just wanted a quick picture to use for this post and I just wanted to enjoy the show, so didn’t bother trying to get something better. We had a good time. Highlights included H helping out by using a clicker to record the number of people arriving – this was the thing he was looking forward to most; the great fireworks – it is always a good display; and good company – I caught up with quite a few people that I hadn’t seen in a while. It’s a bit sad it’s his last one at the school, but quite a few of last year’s Year 6s were there, so maybe we will be back next year.
