A new toy to review is always popular and was hoping the Thumb Chucks would go down well as I thought they could help him increase his dexterity. H has problems with his handwriting and he’s been assessed as having weak hands, so I am always on the look out for ways to improve his hand strength. You know what kids are like though, and they don’t always want to do what is good for them, so if you can make things fun, it’s much easier.
Thumb Chucks were an immediate success. H couldn’t really control the balls well to start with, but he kept on going. It’s a really simple toy: just two light up balls connected by a flat cord. You’d think because it’s so simple, there wouldn’t be much you could do with it. There are all sorts of moves though: the wrap, the pass, the rebound and many more. There’s an app you can use to watch tutorials and record your own achievements. There are loads of videos online too, so you can learn new moves or marvel at the maestros.
H has taken some time to master the moves, but he is playing with the Thumb Chucks every day, even a couple of weeks after we got sent them. They do seem to have lasting interest. They aren’t an expensive toy either with a RRP of £7.99. If you want to see them in action take a look at this cool video.
