The school run has never been so much fun. I think this picture really says it all. He’s loving travelling to school by scooter. H has never been that keen on going to school and sometimes the school run seems to take an age. Since we started scooting there with the Y Glider from Y Volution though, there has been no stopping him, he’s been keen to go.
Obviously, when something exciting like this arrives through the post, you immediately want to get it out and get using it. This was really, really simple to do. As you can see from the picture, you get 3 things in the box: the foot part of the scooter, the handles and an instruction book. To be honest, you barely need the instruction book because it’s very easy to put together.
You simply pull off the plastic and insert the handle into the footplate. It slots and clicks into position, then you’re away. You can also adjust the handle height with a simple clip a bit below the T bar. This was very easy to do, in fact we did it en route to school.
There’s a brake at the back that you push down on with your foot to slow or stop. This is the first time H has had a brake on a scooter and he’s finding it quite easy to manage.
Scooting around the playground with the Y Glider has gained H lots of admiring comments about his scooter. It really does look good. Boys and girls alike have been over to check it out. D, the younger brother of H’s best friend, has been trying it out on the way home too (when H isn’t around) and he loves it. The ‘lean to steer’ technology makes steering quite instinctive for children and H has found that easy to master. I’m carrying it home after I drop H off in the morning and it is very easy to carry, balancing nicely on my shoulder even if I go ‘hands free’.
