Two weeks in one again for me. I seem to have been very busy at the weekends recently. This picture is a bit of a cheat as it wasn’t taken by me. This is a picture of the dinner party that I hosted with La Belle Assiette on my other blog. It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious – so nice to host guests at home without having to cook or clean up afterwards.
I have taken a lot of pictures the last couple of weeks, but I’m going to spare you all the pictures I’ve taken of things I’m selling on eBay because frankly they are rather dull. I started trying to sell a bit more stuff on eBay as work had gone quiet, and whilst I didn’t want to panic too soon (all too easy to do when you are self-employed) I did want to make some money. Apart from that it seemed like a good way of decluttering too and if the items are sold it will mean that they are being reused by someone who wants them so that’s good too. I did list quite a few items and a number have now sold, but the day job work has started coming in again which is nice, so it’s eBay has gone on the backburner. I think my project for the next year will be to sell some items, especially when work is quiet, to have a big clear out (it’s long overdue) and top up my earnings. So instead of those pictures I’m sharing one from a piece of work with the Coop that I’m doing over on my other blog.
I went away for the weekend to Nottinghamshire. To be honest I put my feet up and relaxed – the hotel had a nice pool/spa area – so there are precious few pictures from the trip. Here’s one taken in a nearby town that I visited: Long Eaton, Derbyshire. I was very taken with this art nouveau building in the town which used to be a bank, but is now a pub.
I had thought that food reviews would dry up a bit at this time of year as restaurants tend to be busy with Christmas, but I managed to fit one in this week at a newly refurbed Ember Inn in Walsall: The Longhorn. A review on this will be coming up in the next week.
This picture of my hot chocolate in a cafe is notable because it’s the first picture I took with my new phone. I decided that I am using my DSLR less and less when I’m out and about as it’s a bit bulky and I wanted a better camera than my existing phone as I often have to take food pictures in low light in restaurants. So I invested in a new phone in a deal I got on Black Friday (it was about 10% off the prices before the discount). I’m still getting to grips with it, but I’m happy so far with the quality.
