Last week it was swan boats and this week it was the real thing. We got asked to review a hotel, so we had a short break in Stratford. Stratford is within easy day trip territory for us, so it was a bit strange to spend some time away in our ‘own back yard’ nearly, but we did more exploring than we’ve been able to fit in before and both H and I chose some activities. Here are the swans on the River Avon. We took a river trip along and it was lovely. We had a long discussion about what to call the town. I always call it Stratford and rarely use the full title ‘upon Avon’, as most midlanders would only mean Shakespeare’s town when referring to Stratford. That place in London, with the same name, would be referred to as ‘Stratford in London’ or even ‘Stratford upon London’.
H chose a wizarding attraction in Stratford as a place he wanted to visit. We sent a letter by owl post, but the owls must be on strike or something because it hasn’t arrived here yet.
We have been to Warwick Castle so many times and we do love visiting there. This time we particularly wanted to see the Wars of the Roses, their flagship daytime show with jousting and sword fighting. H loved it and said it was their best show yet.
Back home and I had to catch up on work. I took this shot for a piece of work I was doing. It wasn’t the one that I picked out for the job, but I did think it was a nice one of H. As well as work I was trying to juggle having H’s room redecorated. This has been planned for some years now, but for various reasons was on hold for ages. Now we are finally able to push ahead and get it done. The plan is to get rid of the (inherited) pink carpet before he brings home friends from secondary school and it’s well overdo a redecorate anyway. I’m hoping I can create a room that he can use all through his teens and we can just change pictures and bed linen in the future.
