Well it’s been a busy week and quite an emotional one. It was H’s last full week at Primary School, but I haven’t got many pictures of that to share as there are other children in them. I took some pictures for the blog this week.
One of the big events of the week was the leavers’ assembly and H took on his character part of the grumpy bus driver very well. The other thing that struck me was the slide show of pictures and in the ones that are just of H or a couple of them, it was clear that he’s a boy who knows how to pose for the camera (I wonder how that could have happened).
This week we had all H’s school reports returned to us in a binder. He now wants to compare with one of his best friends in some sort of competitive thing – they did it with this year’s reports. It’s just as well they are both bright boys and both had done better than the other in certain areas and worse in others. Here he is looking through the reports.
I can’t believe we are drawing to the end of the school year – H just has two more days to do next week and then it’s all over. It will be goodbye to primary and he’ll be starting secondary in August, so he doesn’t get a hugely long holiday this year.
I’ve spent some time gardening this week. I think my lavender border by the side of the house is looking particularly fine this year and the bees seem to like it too. Watering is a daily job (not of the lavender, but most of the rest) and even if we have a shower there is no evidence of it even a short while later. It rained last night and it was a decent shower, but the ground is already dried out again this morning.
The bees also seem keen on my alliums, but not many of them seem to have come up this year. I wonder if it’s been too dry for them to get going. The ones that have come up are looking good though.
That’s a cracking bee shot. We had loads of rain last night but you wouldn’t know it looking at the garden today. H looks so grown up in that reports shot, to me he’s still that little boy we met at Birmingham Airport all those years ago #365
Ahh! I have photos of my girl and her last week at school but they are just for us as they too have other kids in. It has been emotional.
That is great you got all the school reports…They can be so competitive at this age.

Big move from primary to secondary. Hope H is looking forward to it. How come they start back in August?
His new school does 5 week summer holidays and 2 weeks in October. I’m not sure it’s a great idea, but we’ll see. Sadly both October weeks will be half term somewhere in the country so I don’t think it will mean cheaper holidays.

Fantastic bee shot! I’m envious – my camera doesn’t do close-ups of small things very well. Well done to H for a good school report! He does look like he’s enjoying posing for the camera, he’s a natural.

I use to spend ages sat on a large rock in the middle of our lavender patch watching the bees, they are fascinating as well as relaxing to watch.
I am sure he is more ready than you for secondary school.
Great bee picture.

That bee shot is fantastic. We’ve had a fair amount of rain since we got back. It is huge for us mums our boys going to high school, but they seem to take it in their stride xx

Our garden has been destroyed by the weather 🙁
It’s so frustrating isn’t it? I have been struggling to keep my plants alive and I’ve lost quite a few.

Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays, the lavender in our garden seems to be the only plant surviving!
