This week has been a bit more normal than the last few weeks. Last weekend my sister was down with her family briefly to attend a friend’s wedding. We got to see them a little bit, but obviously not as much as usual as they were busy with the wedding most of the Saturday. I think this might be the first time that my nephews have stayed with me and haven’t left something behind (I haven’t found anything yet anyway). My niece did leave something behind at my Dad’s house though so there will be something to return when we go up to see them later in the year.
I didn’t get to go for my usual weekly walk with a friend because of the weather. We usually go once a week and we rarely have to miss because of the weather. This week it was too wet on the two days we could go, so we met up for a coffee instead in a local town. It was quite handy as we popped round the shops and I was able to get some bits from Wilko and The Works, which I normally don’t get to go to unless I make a special journey.
This week we had H’s first parents’ evening at his secondary school. It was quite a contrast to his quiet parents’ evenings at primary where there are just 7 teachers sat in the hall. This time there were loads of teachers, loads of kids and loads of parents. I was a bit peeved that we didn’t get an appointment to see his English teacher, but other than that it was useful to hear how he is getting on. He seems to be doing well and coping with grammar school standards.
A rare Friday evening out for me this week. It was nice to get out and a very pleasant surprise to bump into a fellow local blogger, Jo Brigdale. It wasn’t a blogging event so it wasn’t an expected meetup. In the past I’ve met up with Jo on Team Honk fundraising events and there was one memorable road trip to River Cottage and back in a day with a car full of Midlands’ bloggers.
