This first picture sums up the weather for this week with sunshine and showers. It was quite nice weather last weekend and I went out for the evening in something quite summery. I went out for dinner with friends at a local Romanian restaurant. We’d none of us tried Romanian food before so that was a bit of an adventure. There seemed to be lots of Romanians in the restaurant and our party were the only ones that weren’t, but the staff were very friendly and helped us through the menu. It was a bit heavy on the meat and I didn’t feel the need to eat much the next day, but it was amazing value with 5 of us eating for £55 and that included a mix of alcoholic and soft drinks. It was all cooked from fresh, but took a bit longer than we’d expected so it put back meeting the rest of the group at the pub. I think we will be back, but we will go earlier so we have plenty of time for the doughnuts that looked fabulous for pudding.
I’ve been swimming twice this week (and once last Friday) and I’ve really enjoyed getting back into swimming and my stamina has already improved a little. I mostly went so much because first my yoga class was cancelled and then my German class, but I’d like to average once a week as a way of keeping fit.
I haven’t done a lot of blogging work this week, but I’ve caught up with a lot of jobs and errands which feels good. Some of these things eat time though. I have been trying to arrange a driving experience for H, but the voucher has been playing up, or perhaps it’s the websites. I don’t know, but I’ve yet to get it booked and I must have spent over an hour on it already. Very frustrating! I’ve had to take broken things back to the shops for a refund. One thing I’ve been trying to sort out is my broken saucepan. Some years ago (well 19 actually) when I was living in my first house, I invested in quite an expensive set of 3 saucepans from Boots (in those days they sold kitchen things in their bigger stores). They have done me very well, but the lid broke on one this week. Now the saucepans were guaranteed for 25 years (I have all the documentation) and I don’t really want to splash out on new ones, so I’ve contacted Boots about it. So far I’ve had a hopeless ‘copy & paste’ style email in response to my detailed questions, so I am thinking this might prove to be a bit of a saga. I could take it back to the local branch, but I don’t suppose they will know what to do and will have contact head office anyway.
