Last Saturday was H’s 12th birthday. It all started off well enough. We did the usual present and card opening session and we had a breakfast sandwich as a treat. I’d booked a late lunch for us at the local Miller & Carter and we were looking forward to going. About half an hour before we needed to leave, H announced that he wasn’t feeling well. I dosed him up with Calpol and we did go for our lunch, but it wasn’t quite as much fun as it was supposed to be. He didn’t want to do anything the rest of the day and we didn’t even light the candles on his birthday cake.
Sunday morning didn’t seem too bad and we went to my brother’s for lunch and we did the birthday cake thing. H likes these caterpillar cakes and I do too as they are easy to find and cheap to buy. Soon after that H went downhill again and wasn’t well enough to meet a friend in the park like he had planned. It wasn’t a very good week for him as he had two more days off school sick. He’s still got another full week of school to go before the Easter holidays and I think he really needs a rest.
With the change of the clocks the amount of early morning light in my bedroom is starting to be a problem. I already have black out curtains in there, but there are gaps around the top and sides sometimes. It’s not helped by the council having a street light nearly opposite. So I’m hoping to reduce the light a bit more by adding some black out blinds too. Hopefully they will cut down on the amount of light again, although I might still have a bit of a problem at the top of the window. Bit of a faff with these as Dunelm (where I got them from) don’t stock the longer size in store, so that was a wasted trip. I then tried to order online and found I was £1 under the free delivery amount. I decided to treat myself to a plant pot as well as I’d rather spend £4 towards something rather than on shipping. The last laugh was on Dunelm though as it seems that the plant pot is delivered from a separate depot, so now they will be doing two deliveries rather than one, but they will both be free to me.
This last shot is one that I set up for a competition I am running at the moment. This week has been about juggling lots of things with H being off sick and having plenty of other things to do.
