This week has been a bit of a funny one. Quite a few things weren’t on that we usually go to. My yoga class, H’s Scouts and swimming weren’t on, so it was a quiet week in some ways. My German class was on and I took this picture of the canal on the way back. It looks very spring like there, but the weather seems to have deteriorated since then. I’ve been trying to fit the work of 5 days into 4 and at the same time get ready for guests from Germany who arrive tomorrow. I think I’m sorted, but I’m bound to have forgotten something. A few things were sent to try me along the way with my mortgage completing this week and the DVLA messing up my driving license (and I think they have lost my documents too).
Yesterday H turned 11. I can’t believe that he’s that old now. He didn’t want to do much on his birthday and was happy just to chill on his first day of the school holidays (he was very happy not to have to go to school on his birthday like he did last year for the first time). We did go out for lunch, but just a cafe and he only wanted some chips as he wasn’t that hungry – he’d been out for a big meal the night before. We mostly stayed at home and he spent a lot of the day reading the books he had for his birthday and some new ones I’d got out of the library. For pudding after dinner (pizza for the birthday boy) we had birthday cake. Some years I’ve had a fancy cake made, some years I’ve made one myself, but even if I do that we still have to get a caterpillar cake from the supermarket. I don’t mind doing that as they aren’t that expensive and they seem to have less icing on than more expensive cakes. Obviously the birthday boy has the face end as a treat.
