So last weekend was lots and lots of fun. We went to Alton Towers for the weekend with H’s best friend and his mum. The boys had a fabulous time as you’d expect. We stayed at the Splash Landings Hotel and spent big chucks of both days in the water park there. The boys loved it, really loved it. I think they would have stayed in there till they were chucked out given the choice.
The main theme park was closed, but we did get to visit the Shark Reef Sea Life Centre there. H and his friend started out as big Octonauts fans and have an amazing knowledge of sea creatures. They make me feel like I know nothing about the subject. So our visit to Sea Life was a big hit too.
This week’s homework was a practical science experiment, which was fun. We had to freeze washing up liquid, olive oil, tomato ketchup, golden syrup and water. Slightly disappointingly they all froze, and the only exciting bit was the complete change of colour of the olive oil. Still it was a bit more interesting to do than usual sums and spellings.
This week has seen some lovely spring weather. It’s meant that we’ve gained any extra room in the house: our conservatory is back in use. We have an unheated conservatory that is too cold to use about 4 months each year. On a sunny day though it warms up pretty quickly. I’ve been eating my lunch in here and I’ve been joined by my feline friends, who enjoy the chance of doing some sun bathing. In fact, most mornings now they are pestering me to get in there as the door is usually closed. Our cats have also been going outside a lot more as they seemed to have almost given up on doing so this winter (they are getting a bit old now sadly).
