I love using and trying out new products, but I also have a preference for using natural products whenever I can. Recently Utama Spice got in contact and asked if I would like to try out some of their products. Utama Spice is a 100% natural skin care company based in Ubud, Bali. They focus on applying traditional herbal knowledge to create products that enhance the skin’s natural beauty, using only 100% pure natural ingredients. The philosophy is just what I look for when searching out products especially skin care ones.
The first thing I tried was the lip balm. I am a bit of a lip balm fanatic. I have loads of them dotted around the place: on my desk, in the bedroom, the living room, the car and that’s before we get onto pockets. Just about every coat or jacket I own has a lip balm in it. I prefer the stick type of lip balm as it’s so much easier when you are on the go. Utama Spice have quite a range of lip balms and I tried out the Tangerine one. It is very pleasant and easy to use. It makes my lips feel soft and smooth: the coconut oil and the beeswax help with that. The tangerine scent is very subtle though, and i think I would have preferred it to be a bit stronger, but it’s easier to pick up the cinnamon within the fragrance. With Christmas just around the corner, this one felt very seasonal, but you could use it happily all year around.
Using a body butter after a bath or as a bit of a treat has become one of my skincare rituals. I tried out the Lemongrass Ginger Body Butter which has such a fresh, slightly exotic, holiday scent: it’s a real sensory explosion and leaves you feeling energized. It’s a great one to use early in the day or to revive you before a night out. With its aloe vera base it does feel soothing on the skin and it really delivers on moisturisation.
Fresh Soul Body Balm is great for using on dry skin parts of the body. I’ve been using successfully on my elbows, knees and feet. It smells wonderful, so refreshing with its peppermint essential oil. It’s a deep, rich moisturiser ideal for those drier bits. It’s also very small and easy to pop into a bag if you are going away.
Yoga has been a big part of my regime for a number of years now. Since coronavirus started, I’ve moved from two classes a week in the yoga studio to doing regular practice at home. This means I’m using my yoga mat more and more, so it’s great to keep it clean and fresh. I’d not thought of using a yoga mat spray before, but it does make such a difference. My mat smells amazing and the energizing scent, heavy with lemons, is just what I need to keep me going through my practice. It would be so useful to clean a borrowed mat at a yoga studio too.
Hand washing is something that we are all doing more of than ever with coronavirus around and I really like trying out different hand soaps. The Lavender Liquid Soap is an all-natural nourishing and moisturizing aromatherapy liquid soap. Infused with pure Lavender Essential Oil, it will provide the calming, relaxing qualities associated with that oil. It is a very liquid, liquid soap, not gluppy at all. My hands smell lovely after using it. I love that it doesn’t contain palm oil or any other nasties.
