As I write this I can hear the wind starting to rise and see the trees moving around as what is left of Hurricane Ophelia starts to come our way. I’m sure that it won’t be long before the rain comes in with the wind and I’m glad that thanks to Trespass I’m all kitted out for the worse of the autumn weather. So often waterproof clothing can look rather dull and functional and it’s often not the sort of clothing you’d want to wear for normal social occasions. I love that I can wear something like this Gita Women’s DLX High Performance Waterproof Jacket and get all that outdoors performance, but I’m wearing something that looks more at home in the city. And yet it’s very much up to the outdoors sports job too.
One of the things that makes this jacket stand out from normal outdoor gear is the level of detailing, plus the care and thought that’s gone into it. There’s this lovely pink zip detailing on the pockets and there are echoing drawstrings to adjust the hood. All the zips are water repellent and the seams are taped, so that that sneaky rain doesn’t find a way in. It’s a 3 layer jacket that keeps the wind out as well as the rain.
So far I’m been wearing this jacket on fairly warm days and I like the fact that it’s breathable, so I don’t get too hot, but I do stay dry. On cold days you’d need to wear a fleece under it unless you were moving around a lot, but I think this jacket should take me right through autumn and I think it would work well in spring too. I think it will be a bit of a staple on the school run this year as it looks smart and as most of us with kids know, it always rains at half past three.
