At last month’s Blogon Conference I met up with the lovely ladies from Hotter Shoes (as well as a very handsome Prince Charming) and had my feet measured up for some of their shoes. I came out at a 6.5 and I wonder if that is the size I should start buying. In actual fact, one foot was just under a 6 and the other just over, but I do have problems with small 6s sometimes, so perhaps it’s better to try the bigger size first and maybe size down if I need to. My name was one those picked out of the hat to do a review and I got my new Sol Sandals in size 6.5. They fit perfectly.
It’s been a long time since I had a pair of white shoes (or sandals). Apart from the shoes that I wore for my wedding, which were ivory really rather than white and I only wore them once, I can only remember one part of white shoes or sandals in my life. It’s a bit ironic really as I remember longing for some in the summer of my first holy communion year, when I was the only girl in the class who wore her ordinary everyday sandals (red and blue) instead of some white ones bought specially for the occasion. Later I had some white, kitten heel stilettos which I thought were the best thing ever in the shop. The trouble is that I am a bit clumsy and struggle with heels. I kept going over on my ankle in these white stilettos and very soon my longed for shoes looked less than their best (that’s not to mention the sprained ankles).
So my new Sol sandals are a mile away from my stilettos in terms of comfort and wearability. They are comfortable to walk around in and have 3 adjustable straps to make them easy to wear. The only thing I found was that I had to be careful to get the velcro to line up nicely otherwise it tends to rub a little where it overhangs. There are 2 adjustable straps at the side and one around the ankle, which means that you can’t adjust the front strap. This wasn’t an issue for me, but I guess it might be for some depending on foot shape. The footbed is cushioned and it feels like I am walking on air.
I don’t think they lose out in the looks department either. They look very smart with their gladiator styling and this pair being white will go with just about everything in my summer wardrobe. Let’s hope we get the weather to allow me to wear them lots and lots. They come in other colours too: gold which is almost as versatile, red which I almost went for as well as brown, blue and black.
