After a wonderfully busy and fun week last week, this week has seen us coming down to earth with a bump as H went back to school after half term. Before all that though we did have a lovely weekend. We had a quiet day to ourselves on Saturday, but on Sunday we decided to go out for lunch, on the spur of the moment. H is a big fan of eating out and doesn’t mind waiting as long as he has a Beast Quest book or similar to read.
We went out to a country pub and had a very pleasant meal that left us all feeling stuffed. After our food, we decided (again on the spur of the moment) to go to H’s favourite playground to have a quick play as it was a fine dry day.
The playground isn’t far from the pub, but is a 20 minute drive from our house, so it made sense to go while we were in the area. We were surprised to see the sandpit was empty. Hopefully, they’ll be filling it up with fresh sand for the spring and the summer. Normally not being able to play in it would have been a problem, but we hadn’t bought our sand toys this time as it was an inpromptu visit. So instead H had a good play on all the equipment. There wasn’t another soul there so he was able to play on whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Of course, without any playmates to hand, Daddy soon got roped in to play.
The rest of the week was the usual school week. I was trying to catch up on things after half term, when most things had gone on hold. I also spent some time with my two brothers. One of them is desperately trying to get a house ready before his wife gives birth (probably early next month). So my other brother and I spent some time helping out with decorating. It’s been good (and quite fun) to get him closer to being able to move his family in and get settled before my new niece arrives.
