We had a little pre-Christmas fun making a gingerbread house and decorating with our favourite sweets: HARIBO. My niece was super keen to help me and she had loads of ideas for the decoration.
To begin with we made the gingerbread mix for our house. We mixed this up and then rolled it out onto the work surface. Then we used our cutter kit to cut out the various house panels: gable ends, sides and the roof pieces. Then we cut out the chimney and started on a gingerbread man, a sleigh and reindeer.
We spread a thin layer of ready made icing onto the panels and got to decorating with a wide range of HARIBO sweets.
There are so many to choose from, it’s really easy to create a range of different effects. You can go for a tile effect for the roof, maybe create a picture, or use some of the Christmas themed sweets to add to the festive feel. Then you can assemble your house using the icing as your cement.
The fun didn’t stop there either as there were more activities to try. We had a lot of fun taking some festive shots using the kit we’d been sent by HARIBO. Here’s my niece having a little bit of elf fun – Elf is one of her favourite Christmas movies and she enjoyed watching it today, but it’s fun to pretend to be an elf yourself too.
So many smiles and giggles were had whilst we worked on our gingerbread house and we really enjoyed using our creativity to make our very own patterns, shapes and scenes. A lot of fun!
Disclosure: This post is in association with HARIBO – they provided the gingerbread house cutter set, all the lovely sweets to decorate it with and a contribution towards the ingredient costs.
