I was a bit slow on the uptake with this music diary which I think is intended to provide some communication about progress, between music teacher and parent. Having only started reading it regularly recently, it was nice to see this pleasing entry the other week saying that H was well prepared for the copper music medal. The copper medal is the first level of H’s music exams.
A little before Christmas H had announced that he felt he wasn’t quite ready to take his medal and that he was going to practise a bit more before taking it. That was fine, although it did cross my mind that maybe the teacher had steered him that way. I realised that we had been neglecting the cello a little in the previous few weeks and he was probably short of practice. So we upped the practice a little making sure that H played a little most evenings.
Last Monday he came home with a music diary that said ‘Well done! We did the copper medal today.’ Now we are just waiting for the results, but hopefully he’s done well. Very proud of him especially as he was videoed during his test, which may have been a bit daunting, even for a YouTube veteran like H.
