A child wears school shoes for a large proportion of their waking, walking hours. Think about all day in the classroom, in the playground, walking to and from school, it all adds up. I’ve tried cheap school shoes before and they were rubbish. Within a few days they looked scruffy and within weeks they were worn out. H’s feet are growing more slowly these days as he’s getting older and I expect about 6 months to pass between size changes, so I need shoes that will be up to lasting through 6 months of hard wear.
Cloggs asked us to put a pair of their school shoes through their paces. I let H pick some out and he opted for these ones made by Geox.
These school shoes are made from leather and look smart, hard-wearing and comfortable. The velcro straps make it easy for them to get on and off and there’s a leather lining to keep feet comfortable. As H has a tendency towards sweaty feet, I’m glad of Geox’s microporous membrane which sits on top of the perforated rubber sole. The idea is that the membrane allows heat and humidity to escape whilst still keeping water out if it rains or there happens to be a puddle to splash in. I like the robustness of the rubber sole as it looks durable and hopefully it will help prevent scuffing.
Now we’ve ordered these with September in mind and H has just tried them on to check the fit and so on.
