If you’re anything like me being back in the school routine will have proved to be a bit of a shock. We are now back in a round of school and after school activities. Sometimes it’s hard to summon up the energy to cook after all of that. So it was something of a relief when Brewers Fayre suggested we try out their Daytime Value Menu one day after school. We settled on Great Park in Rubery, near Birmingham, which is easy for us to get to and we were drawn by the prospect of soft play too.
When you’re an only child like H it’s more fun to go to soft play if you have some friends to play with, so we invited one of H’s classmates along with his family. The children were barely seen except when they returned for food or drink top ups. There’s lots for them to do with all the usual soft play slides and activities, plus a Beano themed party room where they could disco away, and some ride on toys too. H loves that it all has a Dennis the Menace theme as he’s a big Beano fan.
The children’s menu is really good value. A main course is £3.99, but two courses is £4.49 and three just £4.99. To be honest H was hungry after a long week at school (we went on a Friday evening) and with all that running around in the soft play area, he was happy to put away his three courses. Drinks are extra, but when the meal is so reasonably priced that’s fine. H picked a garlic bread starter, but there’s plenty of choice on the menu for all three courses. The menu continues with the Dennis the Menace theme with Spaghetti Beano-ese and H’s choice The Big Bad Dog.
Adults are well looked after too. I was trying out the Daytime Value Menu which is available on weekdays from 12-6.30pm. The main courses cost just £10 for two meals and as you can see they are pretty generous portions. Starters are a bargain at 2 for £2.50 and I can really recommend the Spicy Potato Dippers.
Coming here for a weekday evening meal for the family and a good runaround for the kids is a great way to have a little treat (and a rest from cooking) and it won’t cost a fortune.
