The week started with a trip to Wales to meet up with our friends from Really Missing Sleep. H has been desperate to meet up with his friends and our trip has been put back because of the weather. Not that the weather was much better. In fact, one trip out of the house had to end due to walking into very strong wind with some sort of spiky, icy rain. There was lots of Skylanders play and H discovered the joys of Disney Infinity. Lots of good old-fashioned play too as the boys got an enormous amount of toys out.
We stayed overnight in a B&B. H found this fascinating and funny. He thought that B&B was a really amusing name and he made up his own versions of what the Bs might stand for. An early night (and morning) for us with the wind blowing a gale outside makes for some perfect onesie time. Here’s H reading in our room in his. I got to enjoy an early morning cup of tea looking out on the magnificent view from our bedroom. Having got used to cooked breakfasts on our cruise H is now a full English (or Welsh in this case) breakfast connoisseur and he managed to put away an enormous plateful here.
Returning home after the weekend, we had only one week of school to get through before half term and that makes going back to school on a Monday morning a bit easier. It’s been another wet and windy week here. H has spent quite a few days cooped up inside at school for every break time.
I hate this weather, it’s too bad to even go out and play for a little bit isn’t it? I really want take Z out properly, hoping it goes away soon. The full English brekkie a sound yummy. So easy to get used to those. I’m wondering what’s in a full Welsh 🙂
I’ve generally found that there isn’t a huge difference between breakfasts described as full Welsh, full English, full Irish and full Scottish. 😉
My kids love staying in hotels and B&Bs and the full English breakfasts too! So glad it’s half-term now – and my last school holiday when I have to book time off work!
It sounds like you had a fun time.
The weather is really trying isn’t it? I do wonder how there can actually be any more rain in the sky! Nice to get away for a little break though 🙂
it is lovely than H and his friend get along so nicely and quite an adventure for the pair of you to travel by train to see him. i am hoping for better weather too (and B to be better!) and looking out of the window i am amazed not to be wokwn to rain! good luck for a fun packed week – you teo alwasys manage to accomplish so much x
Lovely photos. Yes, it’s been so wet & windy, let’s hope for better this week x
i can’t really believe we are already 7 weeks into the new year! where is 2014 going in such a hurry? wish the weather would however go somewhere in a hurrah!
Seven weeks in and still raining!
I’m not sure what the difference is between full English or Full Welsh..perhaps you should have laverbread with the Welsh one although it’s an acquired taste. 🙂
Erica he looks so grown up here!! i have to admit i am a breakfast fiend!! 🙂
I would happily eat bacon and egg for brekkie every morning, cept it makes the house a bit whiffy.
Glad you got to meet up with your friend, and sounds like H enjoyed all aspects of the weekend away.
The weather has been awful, doesnt seem much better for half term for you this week.
I love it when they find things funny – I can just imagine the Bs for B&B! Bacon and Beans for brekkie?! Great round up
i’d love to know H’s version of what B&B could stand for?!!! L also loves a cooked breakfast.
That sounds like fun; we haven’t stayed in a B&B for years as there are just too many of us now. I bet you had a good breakfast.
