It’s been a week of two halves for us. We started with a quiet long weekend at home which stretched into Tuesday. We did go out to the garden centre and a furnishings store, but we just went to one place and then came home again. H was in need of a rest after a busy outdoor week last week, so we slowed the pace down. Tuesday was a bit frustrating as we stayed in all day for a parcel that never came, meaning that I didn’t get to do all my errands and ended up having to fit them in between a busy schedule later in the week.
H had been asking to visit his friends on the Welsh coast again. We visited them earlier in the holiday, but he was keen to go back, so we decided to do a day trip. It was a long day: our train left at 6.30 in the morning and arrived just before 10 and on the way back we got back a bit after bedtime. The journey wasn’t too bad though thanks to the tablet for entertainment and a plentiful supply of snacks and drinks. We had a lovely day with some beach and sea play, some Skylanders, some Hex Bugs and trampoling. H said that he’d do it again despite all the hours on the train.
Later in the week there were more days out including a day at Millie’s Meerkat Playbarn near Bridgnorth. A bizarre mix of soft play and animal man, but it worked. Some of our group got to hold a tarantula and a hissing cockroach, to stroke a meerkat, a bearded dragon and a grass snake. H was exhausted from his seaside day trip and fell asleep in the car on the way there.
