What makes the perfect tea party for you? For me it’s a bit of a ritual: the getting out the best china; laying the table; maybe buying some flowers; and generally making an ordinary occasion seem a little bit special. Bahlsen Biscuits sent me through some of their yummy biscuits and asked me to include them in a perfect tea party. It wasn’t very hard to do as I do like their Choco Leibniz biscuits. Better still we got to try out their new white flavour, which is ideal for white chocolate lovers.
I got out my treasured Wedgwood tea set. Over the years I have built up a reasonable collection of this lovely Summer Sky pattern from the 1950s I think, but I have lots of tea-things for it and not much in the way of dinner plates and more everyday items. So at the moment it’s reserved for afternoon tea. I love the simplicity of the lines with their sinuous curves and the two-tone colour scheme: it has a pared down elegance that seems just the thing for a more formal afternoon tea (or in this case afternoon coffee). Laying the table with a pretty cloth helps to set off the china and the biscuits and this is such a pretty floral print. I just wish had a bigger plate of Summer Sky so that I could get a few more Choco Leibniz biscuits on there.
