I’ve had a week off from blogging and almost a week off from taking photos. I did take a few of the family that I won’t be sharing, but I didn’t use my DSLR camera at all and only took a handful of pictures on my phone. So it’s just a snow picture and a cat picture this week, but I am sure I’ll be back to taking more photos again next week.
The Christmas break has alternated between being busy and hectic, and being quiet. H and I had lunch on Christmas day with my brother, his family and my parents. My brother has hosted my parents for a few years now, but this is the first time I’ve been round for lunch, although we have popped round for part of the day before. H had a lovely time playing with his 6-year-old cousin’s new toys. The next couple of days were quite quiet and I was able to recharge my batteries a little as I felt I’d worked pretty much right up to Christmas.
My sister arrived on the 27th and H loved having the company of his cousin who stayed with us while the rest of the family stayed in a hotel. It’s much easier to get a family room for 2 children rather than 3 and it was just as easy for me to have my nephew stay as not. He and H had a great time together and H was sad when he went home yesterday. Bracken the cat was also sad when everyone went home as she is a cat that loves attention and fuss.
We all went out for a family meal one of the days. This is quite a logistical feat as one of my sisters doesn’t have any transport and has 5 children, so we chose a pub near her so it was easy to ferry people around, but it’s not an area that the rest of us know well enough to be able to pick out a pub. I asked for recommendations for a suitable pub on Facebook and a couple of friends suggested venues. It’s amazing the power of social media for helping out with something like that, as I don’t know how easy it would have been to establish which pubs would be able to cope with a large family party without some inside knowledge. We ended up with a large area of the pub to ourselves which suited with all the children and the service was very prompt especially considering the size of the group.
