It’s been quite a stressful week with a lot of things to get to grips with. Things haven’t been helped by companies and other organisations not doing things that they were supposed to do or not doing them properly. There are still some hoops to jump through to sort things out sadly.
Saturday started with the arrival of a sick fox in the garden. I watched it for a while trying to make up my mind what the problem was and what to do about it. H saw it too, but seemed happy when he saw it moving. Sadly, I wasn’t quite so convinced and soon after he went out for the day, I decided I should ring the RSPCA. Almost as if the fox knew, he disappeared out of my garden and into next door and I could no longer see him. A bit later though I went into the garden and saw the fox was dead and lying under the hedge separating our two gardens. I’m not going to share a picture of the dead fox, so here’s one taken last year. Obviously, I’m not sure it’s the same one.
One thing I am doing more and more of this year is walking along the canal. A change to the venue of my German language class meant a long walk from where I park my car, until I found a new route that involved walking along the canal towpath. I now do the walk in about half the time because I can cut out lots of corners and road crossing. The canal towpaths near to the city centre are very busy too with walkers, runners and cyclists, so it all feels quite safe.
This week I had to go into town for a meeting as well, so I got to walk along the route twice.
Two animals very much alive this time, although they do seem to sleep an awful lot. I thought this was a nice one of the cats tucked up inside each other. I’d just been thinking that we hadn’t had any cat sick episodes for a while, when this week they decided to treat me to a batch of it. In fact, I think it was just Bracken given the placement of some of the deposits. I don’t think there’s anything really amiss as she seems fine otherwise.
Sorry to hear about the fox – and the cat sick! That is one thing which really puts me off dogs and cats as I have a phobia of vomiting. My kids are very well trained and are always sick tidily!
Walking along the canal looks and sounds lovely.
Gosh hard to believe its week 5 already i see the sun is beginning to shine
that was sad about the fox, i’ll just assume it was very old and died peacefully
I always smile when I see your cats like that, memories. It’s lovely to see the city centre canal paths looking so nice these days, much prettier than I remember from my clubbing days. Shame about the fox 🙁 #365
what a shame about the fox, but a lovely photo of the one you took last year with the sun shining on it. Nice to be able to walk alongside the canal and miss out all the traffic. Your cats are so sweet – their colourings are so pretty x
Your canal shots are stunning. Such a shame about the wee fox. #project365
Such a shame about the fox. It’s not nice seeing wildlife injured or otherwise :((
Birmingham is really quite pretty & that tow path walk looks like a great alternative than road walking. I think it’s given a disservice in the press – isn’t there the famous saying there’s more canals in B’ham then there is in Venice?

I hope your cats are ok. I love how cute they look both shrimped together! Beautiful weather for both your canal walks. 🙂
Poor little fox 🙁
Aww the poor little fox. That made me cry! 🙁
Oh dear at the poor fox, shame but I suppose that is nature.
Hate when things go wrong and there are obstacles in the way that we can not move.
I love all your canal photos. I think it’s great that so many of our cities there are gorgeous places like that to get away from the hustle and bustle
Oh know, what a shame about the poor fox. How sad. Hope the cat is better soon. The canal walk sounds lovely x
How sad about the fox, I hope it was just old age. Gorgeous photo of your cats, and the walks along the canal sound wonderful x
I like the canal shots. It’s a lovely area. Pity about the fox and cat sick, maybe Bracken ate something she shouldn’t have!
My old cat was once sick on a whole sheet of first class stamps I had just bought and left on the floor for a few seconds…. That was expensive…. 🙁
The cats look so comfortable
Sad to hear about the fox
