It only seems like 5 minutes since he started there, but H finished cubs this week for the summer and for good. He’s had a good time and learnt lots, plus he’s risen through the ranks to become a sixer. From September he’ll be starting in scouts and he’s moving up with a close friend, so I’m hoping for an easy transition. This also means that I have to start work on the camp blanket project where I transfer almost all his badges onto a blanket. Any tips for an easier way to do this rather than sewing would be very much appreciated.
I took my mum out to a blogging event this week as it seems very much her thing. We went to try out the new Laura Ashley Tea Rooms in Solihull (near Birmingham). It was very good indeed and I think mum will be recommending it to all her friends. It’s a bit of a trek across Birmingham for us, but I think we’ll be going back.
I stepped in at the last minute to fill in for another blogger on a restaurant review this week. I got to spend some time with Candace from Buckets of Tea (for the second week running) and had a lovely Thai meal too. This is one of the spectacular cocktails being created at the table for us.
Out and about this week in Brindley Place near Birmingham city centre, I stumbled across an outdoor film festival which looked kind of fun. This was before the rain arrived – I’m not sure it looks so appealing this weekend.
Another school year over. Couldn’t quite believe that in only a year’s time, H will be saying goodbye to primary school. He’s had a good year this school year with 2 good teachers. We were sad when the first teacher (a really experienced one) left, but very pleased to get a head teacher with a spare term to fill in before a new job to cover the post. H was sad to see him go at the end of term.
