We recently had a new friend for H arrive through the post. H was never much of one for soft toys when he was younger, but now he seems to like a teddy or three to cuddle up to in bed. H loved browsing through the British Teddies’ website to choose his bear. There were lots of bears he could easily have chosen. Each teddy, from British Teddies, is fully jointed and handmade from the high quality plush and stands 28cm tall.
I was kind of hoping that he’d pick out my personal favourite: the Beefeater bear. But, it wasn’t to be. H picked out Roger the Bomber Command bear in the end. I think he was drawn to the attention to detail with the Bomber Command bear’s costume. There’s his flying helmet with goggles, his shirt and tie, plus his super cool jacket. One of H’s favourite coats is a flying jacket style number and he clearly likes the idea of seeing himself as a world war two pilot. Or maybe it’s because he’s got the same name as one of his favourite uncles.
I particularly liked the fact that the Bomber Command teddy bears are each dressed at the Poppy factory by wounded ex-military personnel. The Poppy Factory help get wounded, sick and injured former UK-armed forces men and women back to work.
H is already very fond of his new bear and he’s set to become a bedtime regular along with a selection of other bear friends and Idris the dragon.
