So last weekend saw us in Trecco Bay, near Porthcawl in South Wales. Saturday was a bit damp and dismal though, so we thought it was a good day to escape underground and we went to Dan Yr Ogof, the National Showcaves of Wales. It was spectacular, partly because so much water was flowing through the caves.
On Monday H had a teacher training day off school so we took our time coming back from Trecco Bay and stopped off at the Big Pit to see what working in a coal mine was really like. It’s a fab museum where you get to go down in the cage and visit the coal face. Many of my father’s family were miners and there were miners on my husband’s side of the family too. In fact, both our families came from South Wales, so it was a valuable insight into the conditions they worked in.
We’ve spent the rest of the week getting back into the routine and catching up with jobs : I have been doing the housework and catching up on the blog, while H has been doing some toy testing. Somehow I don’t think I got the best end of the deal.
