Last Saturday was the first day of the Easter holidays for H and we’d arranged to go to the SeaLife Centre in Birmingham to see their new starfish exhibition. We love visiting the Sea Life centre and we took along one of H’s school friends, so he had someone to enjoy it with of his own age.
Sunday saw the first of our celebrations for H’s eighth birthday. Both sets of grandparents came over to see him and we went out to lunch. Disaster struck in the morning though, as our boiler broke again. Now we knew it had only been repaired temporarily, but the repair man was talking about fitting a new boiler in May, but it had only been 3 weeks since it was ‘fixed’. So the house was cold and we were supposed to be entertaining. Luckily the conservatory got just enough sun to make it warm enough to sit in.
Monday was H’s birthday itself and we celebrated by getting up early and heading for the Welsh coast and Barmouth. H loves it there and we had a lot of fun despite the weather not being as good as we would have liked. H loved the fact that we had nothing planned for the day and we could just do what we wanted, when we wanted. Basically, he made the decisions for the day and he had a wonderful time.
We had a lot of fun during our stay: lots of running around the sand dunes; wandering around the old town; going for walks on the cliffs; and meeting up with friends. H loved eating out at the local pub in the evening and visiting the cafe for hot chocolate and cake (and a strong internet connection). We were sad to leave and come home. Thankfully though, our heating was back on (for the moment at least).
Friday saw us at a family Easter party. My brother and his wife are very good at hosting events like this and the children had a lovely time. There was an Easter egg hunt and various Easter art activities including this Easter bunny biscuit decorating competition.
Happy Easter to you all!
