As Forestry Commission bloggers we like to investigate the latest trails and H is becoming quite the connoisseur now, he’s comparing one trail to another. You’ll be pleased to hear that he enjoyed the Superworm one and he thought it was better than The Gruffalo trails we’ve done. As usual we went to ‘our forest’ to do this, which is the Wyre Forest near Bewdley and Kidderminster. There were lots of activities on this trail and we had a good time trying them out. This face is one of a boy concentrating on being able to pick out this tree again. I spun H round and led him to a tree and he felt it with his eyes closed. I led him back and spun him a bit more and he had to pick out his tree. He managed to do this (and so did I when I had my turn).
We did a lot of wiggling and squirming like Superworm himself. H really got into the part. The trail pack includes a piece of string you can make into a fishing line to rescue Beetle from the well. We had a go at that and then decided to adapt things a little by doing some Gruffalo fishing. We were very pleased to see the Gruffalo statue still sleeping on the forest floor.
I would say that this is the best of the trails that we have done with the Forestry Commission. There’s plenty to do and look for, plus I liked that, even at 8, H still very much enjoyed it and learnt from it. The Superworm trail is running until 31 October and there are a number of locations around the country.
