It’s a busy time of year. The shops are full of Christmas shoppers and it can be a hard slog finding the right Christmas presents for all those family members. After a recent morning’s shopping with friends, we took refuge at the local Toby Carvery for a well-earned break. We needed refuelling before hitting the shops again and we were grateful for a chance to rest our feet.
One of the things I like about a Toby Carvery is that you can just walk in and have your food on your plate within a handful of minutes really. In our case we walked in, were seated and drinks were ordered and delivered within a few minutes. Then we were off to the carvery to pick our roast dinners. If you want a vegetarian option, it’s easy enough to order that with your drink and it’s usually ready pretty quickly. I love that you can choose from one of four roasts: turkey, ham, beef or pork in our case, but I often like to mix my meats and usually have a half portion of turkey and a half portion of beef. That way I can properly enjoy my Yorkshire Pudding and my stuffing. Do you have a favourite meat that you usually pick? Or do you like to mix and match like me?
We decided to make the most of our lunch out and make sure that we wouldn’t need to cook again later in the day, so we rounded off our meals with a pudding each. It seemed only right as a reward for all that hard work Christmas shopping.
I thought it was very reasonably priced too: a two course meal for 3 with soft drinks came in at just under £40.
Disclosure: Toby Carvery provided us with vouchers to cover our meal.
