I love making my own pizzas, but I also buy them ready-made because they are a really handy, easy and satisfying meal to have on hand in the freezer. I also find them useful for when unexpected guests arrive or just those days when you don’t have much time or energy.
This week we got the chance to try out the new Dr.Oetker’s Panebello Pizzas when we were sent some for review. I was looking forward to this because we’d previously tried out Dr.Oetker’s Ristorante Pizzas and enjoyed them very much.
The idea behind the Dr.Oetker Panebello range is that they are deep pizzas with a bakery crust, that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There are two varieties:
- Carne Speciale which blends delicious slices of pepperoni and mozzarella, topped with yellow and red peppers plus red onions on a spicy tomato sauce.
- Pomodoro Mozzarella which combines Mozzarella cheese with tomatoes and basil.
Now I’m not usually a deep pan fan, but the Panebello goes some way towards solving the deep pan issues for me. It didn’t feel like I was eating half a loaf of bread to get at my pizza which I usually find to be the problem. I think I still prefer the Ristorante range. My husband prefers deep pan to thin crust, so this was much more his sort of thing. H demolished his pizza and scoffed the leftovers up the next day for his lunch. Overall a family success I think.

they look delicious. We have the same issue in our house as i prefer thin crust but tim likes deep pan. I love pizza especially with a side salad. I always eat more salad with pizza than i would on its own which is a bit odd!
I’m always a bit fussy with frozen pizzas but I do love the Chicago one. Ill have to look out for this!
