Last weekend we went to a lovely party hosted by some friends who are about to move to Scotland. It was quite a late night for H, but he was still up bright and breezy at 6ish. I wish he would lie in once in a while.
Riding his bike has become a weekend ritual. I think we are getting very close to the stage when we need to get him a new bike. This old one is small, but he has been able to build up confidence and strength on it. He’s now riding on different surfaces and isn’t afraid if it isn’t car park smooth. Bigger wheels and gears are the next step.
This is one of the lilies we planted earlier this year. We bought some cheap summer bulbs from Aldi and planted them in a pot. All was going well until one day I realised that my new lily bloom had been destroyed. A bit of googling revealed that the culprit was the red lily beetle or in this case its larvae. The larvae are particularly revolting black slimy things – the slimy stuff is their own poo apparently. Not impressed that these hideous things have destroyed my pretty flowers. I’ve not grown lilies before and I’m not sure I want to again if this is going to be a common problem.
We’ve spent a lot of time outdoors this week whether out in the park or in our own garden. I couldn’t resist taking the odd snap of what we saw out and about. One shot I particularly liked was this one of sunlight through the branches of trees.
I’m now on a count down to the summer holidays. I’m on a mission to get my jobs done ahead of H finishing so I can spend time with him over the summer. I’ve got a lot done, but the to do list still has plenty on it.
