Week 28 Project 52

in and out of the paddling poolWhat a lovely week!  The weather has been gorgeous and it’s been years (it feels like) since we had a spell as hot for as long as this – it’s great to have a real heat wave.  Last weekend we spent Saturday in my brother’s back garden for my nephew’s second birthday.  It’s a very big garden so perfect for an outside party.  A lot of preparation had gone into it and there were lots of games to play and the paddling pool was out to play in.  H was in and out of the pool all day.  When he wasn’t in the pool he was playing croquet or building with mega bloks.  There was even a baby racoon at the party which was super cute and very cuddly.

walking to school in a heat waveWalking to school has been rather strange that week during our heat wave.  H has wanted to wear a coat or a jumper and I have mostly refused to let him.  It is a bit chillier first thing, but it soon warms up.  We compromised on Friday, when he wore a jacket to school and I brought it back home with me.  The last week or so the jumper he has worn in the morning hasn’t always come home with him, so I’m a bit nervous we are going to lose school uniform just before the end of term.

scooting at the skate parkOne evening this week we had the class bear sent home.  I think every parent heart sinks when this happens.  Our school seem to have just started it this term and Paddington is going round the class at break neck speed spending only one night in each home, so the pressure is on.  We took Paddington scooting to the skate park in our local park to help us test out H’s new scooter.

L has found this week very strange. They haven’t encountered heat like this. L watched the weather report this morning and announced “so this is summer?!” He has also been chilly in the morning. He has remembered his cardigan every day but forgot his sun hats. He has lost 2 so far. I hope they re-appear next week as i think we are going to need them!

    • I think you’re right. I’ve kind of lost track of the uniform. A jumper appeared in H’s bookbag and I thought that must be someone else’s, but it was ours. I just hadn’t realised that it hadn’t come home one night.

  2. a teddy past from child to child, help to spread the germs I suppose…..sorry me being a bit ocd. It can be a bit chilly first thing despite the heat later in the day.

  3. What a great post Erica – it makes such a difference when the sun is out. That scooter looks great, we’re wondering whether to get POD one of those when we have a patio!

Can’t see the point of the class bear at all! Funny about jumpers and coats, aren’t they.

  5. Such gorgeous sunny photos, it really helps having such lovely weather. H is looking really grown up all of a sudden

  6. Do you have to entertain Paddington and take pics and things? Maybe in this weather he’d quite like to just sit in the paddling pool and sip mocktails? ;). I’ve never seen a baby raccoon, bet that was really interesting!

So loving the weather too here in Cornwall. Spot on with the bear thing from school. Do you have to write up his adventures too? We get some great bear adventures when they come to the farm!

  8. It’s been gorgeous hasn’t it and it does seem years since we’ve had heat like this. I’m loving it! My eldest gets very funny about wanting to wear her coat to school – have to persuade her it’s not really necessary! It does seem like it should be the holidays already really with this sunshine. Oh and we took the class bear on a 2 week holiday one year!

It does seem like ages since our last heat wave! I can’t believe H wanted to wear a jacket to school. Z hates wearing a jacket, even when it is cold lol.

  10. The weather has been so great hasn’t it.nAh the class bear, I remember that one! We had to make a book to say what he did, as a bit of a nightmare.

    • Yes Jenny I think most of them do (or some variant on the theme). Ours seems to have been an end of year after thought and has only been coming round for the last few weeks, hence only one night each.

I like the photo of H being cheeky!
I think all kiddies end up bringing home other kiddies belongings. Glad it was H’s!
