Last Saturday saw us all at Dudley Zoo, for the day, thanks to the Tots100 and Money Supermarket. We took H and his best friend and a good time was had by all. I think it was actually easier to look after two boys rather than one, as essentially they amused themselves. They ran, they talked, they learnt, they looked, they shouted, they played, they had a wonderful time.
After an exciting weekend reality set in this week: it was back to school after Christmas fun. H wasn’t keen to go this week and moaned a lot. He asked lots of questions too. Why do I have to go to school? Can’t you teach me? H is aware that home education is an alternative to going to school, as he has close friends who are home educated. Despite the moaning, he went off very happily into school each day when the doors opened. Here’s one of our school run photos. Those who followed our Project 366 series last year will be very familiar with these. We are very lucky that our school run takes us through a park.

Sounds like you had a fun day at the zoo. None of my children wanted to go back after the Christmas holidays either.

We have never been to Dudley Zoo, I must add that to the list of possible things to do at Easter maybe. We have found the first week back difficult as L is very anti school at the moment and it does make mornings a strain. Great photos, H looks happy enough in that photo.

L moaned about going back to school but luckily they had a trip on weds to see a panto so that had him counting down the sleeps! I think he will be worse next week as they have nothing to distract him. In a way a bit of snow might be good! It will be the quickest walk to school ever!
i love visiting the zoo Erica and i cant wait to take the boys this year. sounds like you all had a great time. and yes i do recall your lovely walk to school – you are lucky to enjoy such lovely scenery x

Lovely school run photo – it looks like a very cold morning! The zoo is one of our favourites but I think our first trip to the zoo won’t be until at least Easter.
He looks happy enough to be back on your lovely school run!

It’s probably a good job we don’t have to go through a park, I don’t think I’d ever get him to school!

Taking two is definitely easier than one – I’m exhausted sometimes after being Flea’s sole entertainment on a day out – loads easier to take one of her friends!

We went to Dudley Zoo last summer. I don’t know whether it was because my 2 were a little older but they didn’t enjoy it that much. They were 9 & 10 and considering we are only 7 miles down the road we have never been till last year. I went every summer as a child and I remember it being much better. Sitting on the fence whether I would recommend but can see how younger children would find it great fun.
Lovely photo of your son with the low sun behind him. Thanks for sharing
the walk to school is so much nicer when you have a lovely route to walk!

Dudley Zoo is fantastic isn\’t it. We took Thomas in the summer. Did it make much different it being in the winter or would you rather visit in the summer?
Sounds like you had a great time at the zoo. xx

Nice to see another school run photo, always nice to see H in the park on the way to school. Hope he was OK when he got back to school and is back into the swing of things now.
