I sat down to write this post and realised I couldn’t think what we had done last weekend. A little thought and a chat with hubby later and I remembered that we had a very quiet weekend, mostly at home. On Saturday and Sunday I worked on the Christmas puddings afterall Sunday was Stirup Sunday.
Sunday was supposed to be H’s first away match at rugby. I use the word match very loosely as that suggests something rather more organised than his first home match was in reality. Five and six year olds seem to struggle with the rules of rugby and the match tends to be an exercise in herding cats for the instructors, officials, etc. The ground he was due to play at had a waterlogged pitch, so the match was called off and H just went to training instead. Some time was found later in the day though to dress up in his latest dressing up costume: The Incredible Hulk.
After school this week we spent largely on working on our art project. I mentioned this last week and the work has continued this week. The body of our beast has been given a few coats of the base colour and then we spent a few evenings adding the detailing one colour per night to allow it to dry in between. We are now ready to start on the second half of the art project, but I need to source some bendy straws first. If all else fails I may have to pay a visit to the restaurant with the golden arches.
Don’t show H this picture anyone – it’s for Christmas. It’s a wonderful hat made for him by @Gifted_Goodies, a online friend of mine. If you’d like to look at some of her other creations, then you can visit her website.
Our cats have spent quite a lot of time indoors this week. For some reason they haven’t wanted to be outside too much in the cold and the wet. So they’ve been posing for a few photos for me including this week’s Saturday is Caption Day picture.
Despite the weather we’ve spent quite a lot of time outside . Here’s a shot I took when I went out for a run. It’s a lovely, old, beech tree in our local park. Sadly the tree hasn’t been too healthy of late and had hardly any leaves on it all year. Still it looks wonderful against a background of the blue of the sky.
There’s been the school run as usual this week getting us out and about in our local park. This week H has been spending a lot of time walking by the side of the
park. Not great for his shoes, but he’s been able to spot various things as he walks along. Here he is pointing to a mushroom he’s discovered along the way.

So I need to come to yours for Christmas pudding then – mine don’t like it.

That hulk costume is amazing I love it but the hat is gorgeous!! He is going to love that! I’m impressed that you make your own puddings, I love the smell but I don’t like the taste so I leave all the Christmas cooking to my mum!
