Sunday was a lovely day and we went over to a local park for a special event that they hold each year. I’d never seen it so busy and there were lots of stalls and bands. There was an enormous queue for the ice cream van.
Monday was a busy day for both me and H. First up was H’s strings concert in the morning. Then I dashed off to my German class arriving about half an hour late, but getting to do most of the class. Then back home for a quick lunch before heading back to school for sports day. The school now do a much less traditional sports day and it’s more fun because the children do a lot more activities and you have to follow them round. It’s fine for me having just the one child, but other parents have to split their attention up, but I think most people prefer it as it’s a lot less dull as you sit around waiting for your child to run. H’s house team won for the first time ever, in fact I think this is the first time since we’ve been going that they haven’t come last. Luckily the dental appointments we had booked were cancelled (otherwise it would have been busier still) and H had cubs in the evening.
A bit of a treat for H this week was having his cousin round briefly to play. His cousin lives some miles away, but was going to the theatre for the evening with my mum and there was just time for the two gamers to play a little Xbox together.
We went out one evening to meet a friend and we sought out a park that was hosting one of the new bears that are around Birmingham this summer. A couple of years ago we had a lot of fun tracking down owls, but this year it’s bears. There’s a map to follow if you are old school, or you can track your progress on the app. I think at least one day in the summer will involve owl spotting.
