Pure Pet Food got in touch and asked if Amber and Bracken would like to try out some of their freeze-dried cat food. I said yes on their behalf, but when it came to it only Bracken tried it. Amber is so set in his ways and I don’t seem him changing now at 15 years old, I couldn’t persuade him to try any. Bracken though was a completely different matter and she was straight in there.
We tried out the Whisker Lickin’ Chicken variety first. This is how it comes out of the packet (see picture above). I serve up one scoop (the scoop comes with the pack as does a clip to reclose the bag), add water and give it a quick mix and you are ready to go. Bracken chooses this food over any others on offer. It’s easy to see why. The food quickly rehydrates when you add water and looks pleasant and appetizing (you can see the meaty chucks and they look like chicken). I love that the ingredient list is short (only 6 ingredients) and is all things I’ve heard of. It’s human quality food, so your cats aren’t getting something second-rate. It doesn’t contain any grains and is high in protein. If your cat is following a raw diet, this should suit.
Next we tried out the Surf & Turf variety and that has gone down just as well. I caught Bracken licking out the empty, but not washed scoop the other day – she is that keen. Each packet made from 800g fresh food, but it only weighs 200g, so it’s quite compact and light meaning that you can stock up the cupboards. Shelf life is good too as our packs had a best before date about a year hence. I find it lasts quite well in the bowl. Bracken tends to snaffle it down quite quickly, but if there are any bits left around the edges, I just scrap them out and a drop or two more water and she licks the bowl clean.
