OUST got in touch recently and told me about their descaling products. We live in a hard water area, which can be a pain to deal with. The scale builds up on everything that water flows through on a regular basis and we see signs on it in the bathroom and the kitchen. I’d be lying though if I said that I was very conscientious about dealing with that limescale build up. Anything but, I’m afraid. This was the state of my kettle before I got OUST working on it.
Not a pretty sight is it? Apparently, 70% of us have hard water and it tends to reduce the life of your household appliances, plus it means they don’t perform as well. This is obviously why I seem to need new kettles pretty frequently. I tried out the kettle descaler, which was easy to use because it’s just a drop in bag that you place in a kettle full of hot water.
This is the after picture. It’s not all gone, but it’s a pretty good job. I repeated the treatment and it looked even better. I also used Oust’s Limescale Remover Spray on the exterior of the kettle as scale had built up on the outside too. It looks a lot cleaner and shinier now.
OUST have asked me for my top cleaning tip and it’s this:
Make the cleaning less of a chore by breaking it into 5 minute segments. I do one small job every time I boil the kettle (I boil the kettle a lot as I work from home). This means that the cleaning never becoming overwhelming or off-putting.
